CAST OF CHARACTERS
Since I accidentally tripped and fell into several OC ideas as castmates for Kaiko, I figured I would put them up in case anyone wanted to make my day and grab one to app or for goofing around in PSLs and the like. (For the love of God, someone please app Kaiko's shrine buddy to Lost Raiders. She adores him and will be the tiniest, most vicious guard dog. Also I will love you more than I probably do already.)
Of note, theydon't have names are slowly gaining names and are only roughly sketched out— this is so anyone who wants them can make them their own, but if you'd rather me do that for whatever reason I totally can o_ob Also if you're interested in any of them don't feel like you HAVE to go with what I've written, I am both flexible and thirsty.
shrine buddy - tsuchitaka HIS FIRST NAME IS REAL AVERAGE/COMMON THO
KAIKO'S BEST BRO. One of the first people Kaiko really interacted with after the whole dying thing. He's got a decent amount of spiritual sensitivity, which is his main reason for working at a shrine, so when she showed up reeking of Bad News he was understandably wigged. She was mostly lost and confused, though, and after deeply pondering the question of "what is my life" he ended up doing his best to guide her away from the whole thoughtlessly seeking vengeance thing and toward something more constructive.
He was the first to feed her (a meat bun he'd been planning to have himself, which is how she found out that food is excellent for keeping herself grounded in humanity and also got addicted to meat buns), and also is responsible for setting up and maintaining her shrine. He's a grade A dumb boy: deadpan but high energy, and in DnD terms high wisdom but low intelligence. ...It's a little embarrassing, particularly since Kaiko is a nerd.
library coworker 久八, read as "hisaya"
WAS ALSO A LITTLE ALARMED BY A BIG BLOB OF BAD NEWS WALKING IN even if it did immediately fall all over itself awkwardly apologizing for intruding and should it leave? Has since quietly adopted— he's the one with the connections to get Kaiko a fake ID etc to let her integrate with human society to some extent + got her the job at the library (with some assistance...)
Basically a huge kuudere. Very calm to the point of accidentally coming off cold; the chill is epic. Secretly a bit of a mother hen. Was originally the displaced spirit of something else(I was thinking river spirit but then was like "maybe I should at least pretend I'm not ripping off that one good Spirited Away fic?" so what kind is up in the air) but anyway now he's a low key internet kami. Googlenushi. His true shape is spidery (insert world wide web joke here). Has a human spouse.
library kami takami-sama
Look if I'm running an OU with kami and assorted other animistic spirits by god I'm going to say libraries can have them. Very quiet and remote for the most part; they don't really bother with the human world much the way Kaiko and her coworker do. Kind of ditzy and strange; think Luna Lovegood only more sleepy and with more correct (if obscure) knowledge. They accidentally hit on Kaiko a lot...? (Nobody is sure if this is actually accidental. They probably don't know if it's actually accidental.)
(Less important to characterization but really important to cuteness, Kaiko gets them romance novels the library doesn't have as the equivalent of obligation chocolate for Valentine's day, since they don't eat food.)
Of note, they
