PING SURVEY/PERMISSIONS

Goodness it's been a while since I've had to do one of these. Anyway, Kaiko gets some pretty specific pings that are not always easy for me as a player to work out, so if you plan on tagging her filling this out would be doing me a huge favor— particularly if you're not playing someone I can wiki or whatever!

If your character is a ghost or other kind of undead, artificial in some way (mechanical or biological. cyborgs also count), full of VENGEANCE or just unfairly wronged in general, bad at emotional honesty with themselves, or has a tragic backstory of the I HURT PEOPLE I LOOOOVED/shunned by the people around me type, let me know please! You don't have to go into detail; Kaiko is a baby so her ability to actually tell pings apart is next to nonexistent. They all just sort of strike her as "hey this person has something interesting going on!"

(If you want to go on for a while about what's up with your character anyway, though, I am not stopping you. I love juicy details, give them to me.)

ALTERNATELY: If your character has a history of murder or hurting other people for shitty reasons (enjoyment, making themselves feel powerful, etc.), particularly if it was tied up in other types of crime (theft, extortion, sexual assault, etc.), that is an entirely separate ping that will get her attention fast, though she won't necessarily do anything about it she isn't provoked. (Of course, if you would in fact like her to do something about it, give me a list of their crimes and we can work something out :)) Or, if you don't want her to noticing that your character has done unpleasant things, let me know! I don't want to ruin anybody's fun.

- Artificial, sort of. MOSTLY. I THINK YOU KNOW FATE/ and it's such a hassle to try and expl...ain... so I'll just straight up say that she can ping for artificial (biologically).

- There's a whole lot of "if you swing it this way, it'd ping for this too maybe" but a lot of it is circumstantial/tied to... alternate endings... so at most I'd say she could be pinged for revenge, but it's not really as relevant anymore to her canonpoint! So I'll leave that one up to you.

I know just enough of the non fate/go fates that my reaction to Ilya was to basically shriek "oh fuck me" on plurk and slam a tag in, so, yes,

anyway thankfully since Kaiko doesn't pick up specifics and the artificial bit is a Big One for her I can just handwave the potential alternate ending stuff under "medium-strong ping and therefore Very Interesting" and leave it at that, laughs. That said though is there anything Ilya is capable of sensing beyond... idk. magic levels...? I keep going to write action tags and then being like "wait I have no idea how much information I should include here"...

And not really! I'm sure a case can be made because T-M magic is bonkers, but I like to stay sane so I'll just say no, only magic stuff. At most it'd be Servants, which are technically spirits, but are also rooted in magic so........ whatever Nasu your magic world is cray.

He's also bad at emotional honesty in the sense that he has a bunch of stuff he carefully does not think about either because it's too awful or because he doesn't see the point in dwelling.

Eliza is a harmless well-adjusted human with zero tragic backstory BUT

LEMME TELL YOU ABOUT HER NECROMATIC FAMILIARS

• Lori, a flower-drake: a complete skeleton, but a few parts were from other specimens.
• Isildur & Isolde, a pair of dragon-wolves: Isildur is all from one individual, but Isolde is a mix of multiple specimens— from the same site as Isildur's though, so probably packmates.
• Tiberius, a Greater Coastal dragon: an incomplete skeleton from multiple individuals.

None of them have any memory of their past lives, because their souls were too degraded by age to have any solid attachment remaining beyond "this species soul goes to that species skeleton". Their souls are also hiveminded mishmashes of whatever fragments chose to answer the summoning and shuffle together to make a new dragon— This hodgepodge is normal for her necromancy! It's whatever soul(s) OPTS to coalesce rather than grabbing for one specific individual (trying to revive a known person/animal with memories and all intact is considered UNETHICAL BAD PRACTICE). Pieces of Eliza's own soul are used to hold the parts together, and as familiars that bond is permanent— they all share magic back-and-forth between them.

wheeze okay I don't even know how to respond here without just explaining literally her entire character and backstory so uhh I guess I'll do that as short as I can. TL;DR Kaoru has been a very powerful psychic since she was very young without realizing it, powerful enough that even average humans with no supernatural talents could sense something off about her. Naturally this meant everyone she ever interacted with was unnerved and freaked out by her and didn't even really know why. She was bullied a lot, people spread rumors about her being a witch who could kill with a look, her parents rejected and feared her, etc etc, which all culminated in her mom calling for a literal demon hunter to come and murder her because she thought her daughter was The Actual Devil. Kaoru was like. MAYBE 12 or 13 when this happened.

SO she was like...okay...I guess if everyone thinks I'm a monster I'll just be a monster then!!! And she gathered up a group of lesser psychics to serve her and started sending them out to hunt down and kill every other magic person they could find because uhhhhh life is pain and they're better off dead, probably, and honestly, they should be THANKING her for SPARING THEM the SUFFERING OF LIFE [citation needed]. But really it's mostly because she's an angry, angry, little girl who kinda just wants someone to step up and kill her already.

And now in Aurora she doesn't even have any of her powers so like...lol.

Pathiri had a Very Bad Childhood of being ostracized due to a mix of racism and his parents being Bad. He's also had people he cared about murdered in the past and definitely wished he could have murdered the murderers back. Not that he's going to be remembering that thanks to amnesia so idk how pings will go in that case.
He also grew up and did a bunch of murders as an assassin for a revolutionary group, though he hasn't done it for personal reasons like needing money/wanting to hurt someone. He definitely thinks of himself as a murderer and doesn't think what he did should be 100% excused just because it was for a good cause, though.

I'm more or less counting the pings as still there, just... quieter. She has extra no idea what they are since she's amnesia too; pings in general just sort of feel like a person seems really interesting and she should absolutely be friends immediately.

HI HELLO Naeva is undead, literally revived as a child and has lived her whole life this way. She still has a pulse and technically needs to breathe but she's room temperature, her pulse and blood pressure are massively slower than a live humans, she gets no nutrients on food and needs to drink blood to survive.

She is shadowed by a massive curse but not actually affected by it--she just is a little bit tainted by it because it's her mother's fault. Also she had to. kill and drain her mom because said mom was driven insane by the curse and was a paranoid tyrant who was dooming the world. She hasn't taken any joy in it but as a princess then queen of a cursed magical kingdom she probably has residue of some of the Shit that's gone down in there. Also her kind are not, uh, well-liked outside the Black Forest and she's feared for being creepy undead! It's. It's a lot.

Naeva also pings as magical, which will increase as she regains more of her powers!

ALSO I FORGOT BUT SHE CAN, SMELL MAGIC...idk if you wanna mess with that though.

anyway re: smelling magic mmmmmaybe? I usually roll with it as Kaiko's brand of power being specifically spiritual rather than magical, if that makes any sense whatsoever :'D so if in Naeva's setting the two are closely related or she's able to smell ghosts/gods she'd def be able to pick up on that but otherwise probably not.

That said, Kaiko flat out doesn't smell human or really living- her base scent is mostly petrichor and ozone with hints of dust and brickwork (and at the moment there are hints of old blood and graveyard dirt, which will go away when/if she gets her shit together lmao) so there's a lot of other fun stuff Naeva could definitely pick up on.

• He's undead! Technically he's a lich, with his soul/life force/essence/whatever attached to a giant robot, but said giant robot isn't here because he's TECHNICALLY APPABLE but doesn't have quite enough of a personality for it to ever happen. Sighs. SIGHS!!! Not that he remembers Ordine yet, anyway.

• He doesn't remember being full of vengeance yet but OH BOY WILL HE!!!!! It isn't really in the "unfairly wronged" category, but there's a lot of bitterness at the man directly responsible for the annexation of his homeland and his grandfather's decline in health/death due to his own depression over the whole situation.

And by "full of vengeance," I mean "he spent three years wandering around letting anger fester inside of him until he found a rich backer and spent ANOTHER three years forming a terrorist group and proceeding to incite the country to the brink of civil war before shooting the motherfucker in the chest."

(Sadly, this was not as fatal as it first seemed.)
