Goodness it's been a while since I've had to do one of these. Anyway, Kaiko gets some pretty specific pings that are not always easy for me as a player to work out, so if you plan on tagging her filling this out would be doing me a huge favor— particularly if you're not playing someone I can wiki or whatever!

If your character is a ghost or other kind of undead, artificial in some way (mechanical or biological. cyborgs also count), full of VENGEANCE or just unfairly wronged in general, bad at emotional honesty with themselves, or has a tragic backstory of the I HURT PEOPLE I LOOOOVED/shunned by the people around me type, let me know please! You don't have to go into detail; Kaiko is a baby so her ability to actually tell pings apart is next to nonexistent. They all just sort of strike her as "hey this person has something interesting going on!"

(If you want to go on for a while about what's up with your character anyway, though, I am not stopping you. I love juicy details, give them to me.)

ALTERNATELY: If your character has a history of murder or hurting other people for shitty reasons (enjoyment, making themselves feel powerful, etc.), particularly if it was tied up in other types of crime (theft, extortion, sexual assault, etc.), that is an entirely separate ping that will get her attention fast, though she won't necessarily do anything about it she isn't provoked. (Of course, if you would in fact like her to do something about it, give me a list of their crimes and we can work something out :)) Or, if you don't want her to noticing that your character has done unpleasant things, let me know! I don't want to ruin anybody's fun.

Tethys accidentally drowned the human she'd fallen for! Humans in her world don't generally feel comfortable around her, she kinda just watches them from afar with sad puppy eyes.

On the flip side, she has a colourful history of drowning poachers and sailors that thought they could get lucky and catch a mermaid (with varying intentions of what to do with said mermaid). Usually she'd only do this if they started something with her first, though.

PT 1: Devil, which might hit one of those. His tragic backstory is, uh, not those, but he did kill his father and that can absolutely be classed as vengeance due to being unfairly wronged (child abuse based on him looking like his mother). He also hates/wants vengeance against someone else from his own world, but it's not as strong as it could be bc they finally fought again (it's also not as weak as it could be bc said person killed the shit out of Froud and didn't go the route he wanted) - also that one was definitely a fair wrong, so. He's also theoretically good at emotional honesty with himself, but he's garbage at recognizing emotions that fall under the category of grief/sadness/trauma/etc so there's also that.

PT 2: Froud used to be a serial killer when he was human, and genuinely thought until like, a couple months back, that people generally enjoyed dying. As in, that it made them happy. This is something he's thought for probably thousands of years. He's done things like extort villages into giving him human (...well, ribika) sacrifices so he could eat them, and particularly savored their fear. HE ALSO JUST LIKES KILLING PEOPLE. He's pretty certainly sexually assaulted people before, particularly in the context of intending to eat them.

Camilla Spiritually pings as a demon! She also eats and tortures and otherwise is horrible to humans in particular but basically everyone to some degree. She is however totally not conflicted about this and thinks it's a-ok so she wouldn't ping as having emotional issues.

Guren (hewhofightsmonsters) is undead (a vampire) and has Boatloads of issues wrt not being able to protect people, being Very Angry about being oppressed or badly hurt in various forms, and sucks at dealing with his troubled feelings a lot. He's a lot of self-hate and other bad shit under heavy pressure.

Ein (grazing) is a human brain inside a mecha with an extra robot body. He is also CRAZY ABOUT VENGEANCE and basically lived for months purely to KILL THE PEOPLE WHO KILLED HIS MENTOR. Now he lives to kill the people who hurt his bff. He's also half martian in a world where martians are an oppressed class so the foundation of his vengeance issues is "everyone was mean to be for being part martian and no one loved me until this One Paternal Figure who then was killed by ungrateful martian children that he tried to be nice to".

Aymeric (reformational) is a pure maiden I'm sorry. He has very little except maybe the habit of putting aside his wants and needs as a person in favor of dedicating himself to duty and his country, and that he's carrying the weight of people who've died under his command as a leader. He's also the elf pope's bastard by a lowborn woman and had to deal with being looked down on for that but he was adopted by an emotionally healthy rich family so he really has not had it that hard comparatively.

Gio pings as an artificial life form with some kind of dog-entity-thingy in his Spine.

Obvs he pings for tragic backstory-- he has hurt people he loved, they have hurt him, sibling massacre occurred, sees himself and is treated as an object rather than a person by his maker, shunned/derided/disliked etc by his maker, you know the drill.

He also DOES hurt people for shitty reasons, those reasons being 'for fun' or can't control himself...but those reasons are complicated and are conditioned into him and come with underlying issues rather than him doing it purely because he wants to.

Chuuya (this dude) is a book spirit! It's not quite the same as just being a ghost because he's influenced by what people thought of him and his works, and also like if he dies you can just summon another 'Nakahara Chuuya' and he won't remember any of this Chuuya's shit. He is definitely super tsundere bad with emotional honesty. ...He also is kind of a bully but like, not a murderer, just the type to pick on people who are easy targets and he knows aren't saints anyway.

ALSO I'm sorry about the edits but - this isn't really an 'I hurt people I loved' type of backstory but he definitely has issues about losing his children and blames himself for their deaths even though like, dude, tuberculosis.

Eater (harpbeat) is a fallen angel! They don't fit any of these other pings though.

Suga (gemuinemanagement) is a human being but he also has worked extensively with night glowstone, a gem used for protection against spirits, to the point where he smells of it - so basically if she gets angry or violent around him he'll start to smell really bad and weaker spirits will probably feel like it's not worth it to stick around and they should go bother someone else. He has a tragic backstory of both those kinds! When he was a child his best friend, Shiori, ended up making a deal with the Kotori Obake (vengeful ghost, usually targets children) for her not to hurt him, and Suga made a deal immediately afterwards with the Kotori Obake for her not to kill Shiori right away (this is how he lost his voice - he smelled like night glowstone so the Kotori Obake didn't want his body, but she took his voice as payment). Then Shiori had to have her memories wiped and move away from their village for their own safety :> And Suga, who'd become an orphan with no family at that point, ended up taking over the museum that stands between the village and the ghost-infested forest and is still trying to keep everyone safe even though barely anyone believes that the ghosts exist now, and he has no friends and almost everyone thinks of him as weird or creepy :>>>

Kevin is the ANGEL OF REPENTANCE aka ANGEL OF CRUELTY, just slam all the revenge and spiritual pings right on down here. Note that most of Dark's canon memories are early Uriel, especially re: ruining Solomon's life. He's trying really hard to be a good sweet Dark instead of purging the entire Forest in holy fire.

Kit is just a good catbird trying to build a better future for hybrids.

Sanajeh is taking a vacation in Court, but he hasn't given up on his home team's plan of killing all his world's humans for the sake of spirits/~NATURE~. This makes dating humans awkward, but! it's not wholly a secret, he doesn't feel traitorous towards either side. He's also a giant cannibal snake, but that's a "i am big predator, i eat smaller animal" thing for him.

Yuki is a murdergame AI, it sucks. As far as he's heard, he's the only timeline that didn't get murdered. F U N.

Velvet is driven very strongly by revenge. She was deeply wronged by someone she loved and trusted and now wants to murder him. There's also a lot of guilt and grief mixed in there. She's also a daemon and exudes something called malevolence, which is basically dark energy produced by lots of negative feelings. It's what turns humans into a daemons in her canon.

Karna is generally pretty pure and free of negative feelings, but he pings as divine, if she'd pick up on that. Also I guess he was murdered in kind of an unjust way by Arjuna that one time, but he's not mad about it so shrug.

Kiri is sort of a spirit herself, in the sense that she's a "sword dryad" (in Nobilis canon, literally everything...except people I guess... has its own little spirit, and she's a sword who got the ability to have a human body). So she could ping for that, potentially? She's also kind of the demigod of the concept of scars, and is currently in the service of a devil who wants vengeance against all of heaven (and got to experience that devil's memory of Falling? a good time had by all, to be sure), so there's a lot going on there that is potentially relevant, even if it's more about the cause Kiri serves than what she personally feels.

ALSO, even if she doesn't ping on the first, she definitely should for "nasty history" stuff, since she's... a sword with a horrible history of being used for lots of excessive bloodshed, and maybe was forged to help destroy reality.

NOW THAT I'M AWAKE here is the rundown, apologies for tl;dr

SHORT STUFF: Elaine's highly spiritually sensitive and emotionally constipated and killed like 6 people for pretty much no reason

LONGER STUFF:

1. Before coming to forest (and for a long time while she was there) she perceived herself as a monster due to the popular opinion that she cursed her entire family by being born, which is held not only by most of society where she lives at large but also much of her family (except for her grandmother and mother, who spread the rumor, and her father who loves her anyway and refuses to dignify questions about it with a response. she gets support from exactly none of them.). She was never outright physically harmed but folks are typically not super comfortable with her due to that and tend to ignore her at best. Max social isolation. At worst she's been poisoned before and one of her uncles tried to convince her dad to drown her in a river before she got well enough to leave the house.

2. The purpose of this rumor was partially to ensure that she maintained relatively little ego and stayed easy to mold and manipulate so she could be sacrificed to a god as part of a church coup (which has larger meaning in the larger metaplot but that's unimportant, the important part is elaine has always been a huge tool on every level). The ideal here is that she's completely free of worldly desires so it perceives the body as empty and possesses it, but if that fails the person just gets eaten. Her death that led to her coming to AFD was the result of the second, despite her trusting in her mother (who convinced her of these things) and her god that she could do this and make up for the trouble she's caused her family and make her friend happy and also be happy herself through a marriage with that god. But nope, she fucked up and died alone, and her mother moved on to another child because she wasn't ever all that special to begin with.

3. In combination of 1 and 2 Vanilla Elaine is literally Avenger Elaine so that's where all the anger over these things got repressed off to.

Ayer (punchiest) is a Servant. He, uh. Felt like there was no real place for himself in the world because he felt like he was living as a domesticated animal with his family so he ran away to become an underground cage fighter and he was raised by the other personality in his head that he doesn't know is in his head. IDK IF THAT COUNTS FOR ANYTHING BUT, THERE, THERE IT IS. He's also king tsundere so very bad at emotional honesty.

He kind of betrayed his friends and killed tons of people by being an obedient underling and he has a lot of lingering guilt about that. He's also rly bad at that emotional honesty stuff.

Ai could ping for both the shunned/hurt people I loved thing (she didn't, but she feels responsible.) It would probably be a small ping, because she wasn't totally ostracized or anything, but there all the same! She has also been very wronged but isn't really vengeful about it? Resentful, sure, but she'd rather distance herself from the people involved than seek revenge/justice. AND FINALLY she's uuuusually pretty honest with herself internally, but sometimes has a hard time actually behaving in a way that represents her true feelings, ranging from normal silly tsundere stuff to more serious things-- not sure if that would ping the same way!

Alex has heavy, heavy spirtual pings from like. Reincarnating like 79 times in the last 2,000 years. And they remember every single incarnation, aren't they lucky. Anyhow they are the reincarnation of Judas Iscariot, so THAT'S A THING. Also, their life as Alex has been shitty for entirely separate reasons (abandoned by their mom, shitty abusive father with HEAVY RELIGIOUS [CATHOLIC] OVERTONES hahaha they hate their life).

Beyond the whole uh Jesus situation though, they don't have a history of murdering or hurting people, and even the Jesus thing was done out of cowardice more than anything else.

Yusuke has two things of possible interest: one, he has a Persona, which spiritually is kind of wonky and weird to define, but my best answer is something like a strong metaphysical spirit that is attached to his soul. It gives him magic and combat abilities, but only under special circumstances. So it's there, but it's not doing anything unless he summons it.

The other thing is that while he's mostly cooled off on vengeance due to his former sensei now being in prison, "being unfairly wronged" by society and shitty adults is a theme for every Phantom Thief, and the desire for justice over wrongdoings still simmers deep down. So it's there, just low-key.

Rin is half-demon with a very short temper. In the past he has gotten very violent when he has lost his temper, not to the point of killing anyone but he has definitely put people in the hospital (including his own father). He also feels responsible for his father's death because his father died saving his life.

There's more stuff too but it's SUPER-spoilery, so the general feel of it is "he's got a lot on his plate and probably doesn't deserve half of the crap he gets." If you want more details I can fill you in though.
